Additionally, Whoop has become the official fitness wearable for multiple organizations including the PGA, LPGA, CrossFit, The First Tee, the Women’s Tennis Association and Boston College Athletics. Each day, the Whoop app suggests a strain range, but it gives no guidance on what would help you reach the numbers it’s referencing. Otherwise, exercise guidance from Oura doesn’t try to be as specific as Whoop. Oura excels in feeding you complex information about your health trends in more digestible, actionable bits.

It’s probably because the reviewer is cycling with his leg muscle power and not really forcing the heart to work hard enough. If you can maintain 90+ rpm for 30 minutes on the Peloton, the HR should hit Z4 and Z5. Sounds like the reviewer isn’t able to get HR into threshold or Z5. It is still up to you to do the work to change something you wish to change. The sensor is actually free but the Whoop membership will run you $18 to $30 monthly depending upon how long you sign up for. That means that adding a Whoop 4.0 likely will double the cost of your gym allocation but it will also likely make the trips to that gym more effective.

The optical heart rate sensor in WHOOP relies on the reflection of light that’s emitted by the sensor’s LEDs. Anything that can interfere with the frequency of the emitted light or its reflection can introduce noise and render the signal less accurate. While that might sound troublesome for a fitness tracker, this shortcoming is irrelevant for most WHOOP users — including me. I’ll explain how I came to this conclusion later in the article. But first, let’s talk about WHOOP’s accuracy in each of the above-mentioned areas.
